Back in May 2024, our team had some amazing news!
Our project got accepted as part of NLnet’s Open Social Fund, an initiative aimed to support the research and development in the social media landscape.
NLnet has launched the Open Social Fund to support the transition to decentralized social media via the Fediverse. Complementary to funding from larger organizations like NGI Zero, this fund aims to restore balance to the social media landscape by supporting small to medium-sized projects that make social media healthier, more robust, and decentralized.
So, since May 2024 we started core internal activities to run our project better (tracking internal project activities and setting up our internal infrastructure, like, communication tools, email, information management, social media presence).
Also, over the summer, we mapped out the bureaucratic process for the pilot project, ensuring everything is in place for the next steps. We’ve also conducted thorough research on organizations active on EU Voice and EU Video, identifying potential interviewees and compiling a list of groups to issue FOIA requests to.
We’ve created an interview script and developed a robust interpretation framework to guide our research moving forward. Our website has been updated, and we’ve drafted a communication plan to keep all stakeholders informed and accountable throughout the process.
In terms of outreach, we’ve:
- Built a strong list of partners
- Established valuable connections with other key organizations
- Generated significant interest in our initiative
Up next, we’re diving headfirst into interviews, firing off FOIA requests, and unleashing our full communication strategy! Exciting things are on the horizon, and we can’t wait to get this next phase rolling!
Thanks for your ongoing support—together, we’re making a real impact.
